Wilbur Naber
Wilbur H. Naber, age 91 of Waco, NE died Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at York. He was born January 10, 1928 at York to Oscar and Maria (Schlueter) Naber. He was baptized at St John’s Lutheran Church, Waco on February 5, 1928 and confirmed on April 6, 1941. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s and through the years served on various boards for both the church and school.
On April 16, 1950, he was united in holy matrimony to Mildred A. Rathje at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. The Lord blessed this marriage with 58 years, 6 children, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Wilbur enjoyed his life on the family farm and was a dedicated farmer all his life. He milked cows from the age of 9, raised hogs, corn and beans. Some of his favorite things were fishing, singing, making things for his grandchildren and holding his great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Ervin, Ralph, Virgil and an infant sister.
Wilbur is survived by his 6 children; Collin Naber of Waco, Bonnie Naber of Lincoln, NE, Kevin Naber of Waco, Pamella (Jim) Ehlers of York, Nancy Naber of Waco, and Kent (Carol) Naber of Kinsley, KS. His grandchildren include Eric (Justine) and their children Evie and Elijah Ehlers of Fairmont, NE., Aaron (Morgan) Ehlers of York, Angela (Spencer) and their children Cooper, Chase, Cohen and Crimsyn Czarnick of Leigh, NE., Ashley (Emi), and their son Carter Suarez of Allen, TX, and Joshua Naber of Kinsley. He is also survived by his brother Gilbert (Shirley) Naber of Waco and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 20, 2019 at St John Lutheran Church south of Waco with the Reverend Matthew Mau officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday and all-day Friday with his family greeting friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., later Friday night at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to his family for later designation.
