Wayne Pieper
Wayne E. Pieper, age 90, of York, NE died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home. He was born April 30, 1928 in Seward County to Edward and Henrietta V. (Knorr) Pieper. He was a graduate of Goehner High School. Wayne served his country as a member of the United States Army from January 15, 1951 – October 18, 1952, during the Korean Conflict.
Wayne was united in marriage to Geraldine Bredow October 1, 1952 until her death on January 24, 2003. Later, he was united in marriage to Margie Bredenkamp on January 10, 2004 until her death on August 10, 2009.
Wayne owned and operated Pieper Plumbing. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in York, and a member of noon Sertoma. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling, but especially spending time at his cabin at Johnson Lake.
He is survived by his daughter Katherine Desantiago of Seward, NE and son Jon (Stacy) Pieper of York, NE, grandchildren: Krystal Desantiago and Lynn Desantiago of Seward, Jennifer Desantiago of Lincoln, NE, Katilyn Pieper and special friend Nick Elmquist of Kansas City, MO, and Shelbi Pieper of York, great grandchildren: Antonio, Brandon, and Camron Desantiago and Kaylee and Faith Desantiago-Hull, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and brothers and sister.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, December 24, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, York with the Reverend Dr. Heath Trampe officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Visitation will be held from 1-8pm on Saturday and Sunday, with his family greeting friends Sunday from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
