Sharon Pohl
Sharon Faith (Lewis) Pohl, 77, of York, died Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Hearthstone in York.
She was born March 11, 1938 near Utica to Olaf Devon and Mildred Irene (Thomas) Lewis. She was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Utica on June 28, 1953. She later became a communicant member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer on April 1, 1958. In recent years she had transferred her membership to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.
Sharon graduated from Utica High School on May 15, 1956. In high school she was proud of having been the majorette for the marching band. On Aug. 11, 1957 she was united in marriage to Dale Roland Pohl of Thayer, at the United Methodist Church in Utica.
Sharon was a lifelong farm housewife in the Thayer and Gresham area. She also waitressed at various area restaurants, most recently at Chances R in York. Sharon and Dale retired to York in 2001. Sharon enjoyed her gardening, bird watching and time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Sharon is survived by her children, Scott (Nancy) Pohl of Crete, Kim (David) Ochsner of Nelson and Jay (Beverly) Pohl of Hartselle, Ala.; grandchildren, Becky (Joel) Kaelin of Dewitt, Casey Pohl of Milligan, Caroline (Ian) Spicha of Lincoln, Christine Ochsner of Omaha, Derek Pohl of Crete and Jacob Pohl and Joshua Pohl of Hartselle, Ala. and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Macie Kaelin of Dewitt.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale; her parents; her step-father, Raymond Mikkelson; infant son, Joel; infant great-granddaughter, Gracie Kaelin and siblings, Nancy Radcliffe and Terry Lewis.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Mike Neidow officiating. Inurnment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Thayer. The family will greet friends Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Metz Mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.
