Ruby Mae Esau
Ruby Mae Esau, age 84 of Lincoln, formerly of Henderson, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 1, 2016.
Ruby was born May 27, 1931 to Amiel and Hannah (Koehn) Koehn in Charleston, Kan. At age 3, the family moved to Colorado, then to Winton, Calif. In May 1954, Ruby was married to Donald Esau at Winton. To this union two sons were born: Verlyn (1955) and Patrick (1964). Ruby and Donald have ten grandchildren.
In the spring of 1967, Ruby and Donald were baptized upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior in the First Church of God in Atwater, Calif. by Pastor Ray Keith. Ruby worked at the Busy Bee Honey Company in Hillsboro, Kan., the five years that Donald attended Tabor College. She worked at various jobs in Kansas and Colorado where Donald pastored. In 1984 when they moved back to California, she was a receptionist and part-time secretary at the First Church of God in Atwater, preschool for ten years.
In 1993 Ruby and Donald retired and moved to Henderson. Ruby loved flowers, gardening, and sewing quilts in her retirement years. She loved Gospel music and songs which expressed her hope in that Eternal Home with the Lord. Ruby was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church in Henderson.
She is survived by sons, Patrick (Leigh) Esau of Lincoln and Verlyn Esau of McPherson, Kan.; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings Merle Koehn, Lorraine Unruh, Violet Esau, Ella Rose Koehn, Robert Koehn, Neoma Amoth, Leonard Koehn, Helen Koehn, Raymond Koehn, Ethel Koehn and Edith Koehn. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Viola Koehn.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Henderson. Private graveside services will be held at Mennonite Brethren Cemetery in Henderson. Memorials may be directed to Grace Children’s Home. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary in Henderson. The family will be present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
