Rolland "Jim" Uffelman
Rolland “Jim” J. Uffelman, age 84 of York, NE passed away at York on September 10, 2021. Jim was born on May 12, 1937 to Ed and Esther (Kottke) Uffelman at York. On April 5, 1959, he was united in marriage to Janice Naber at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Waco. He served in the United States Army from 1960-1962. While living in Geneva, NE, he was a member of the Geneva Lions Club. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in York, where he was an elder and served on many boards of the church. He was Past President of the Sunrise Sertoma Club of York. He retired from LT&T after 40 years of service, lastly serving as area manager in the York area. After he was retired, he worked for Metz Mortuary for many years.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jan of York, son Kirk (Cindy) Uffelman of York, daughter Kris (Bill) Erickson of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Chase (Christa) McSpadden of Cape Giardeau, MO, Meagan (Joel) Hassebrock of Papillion, NE, Conor DoRan of Lincoln, NE, Hannah Uffelman of York, Annie Laurie Erickson (Patch) Somerville of New Orleans, LA, and Ellie Erickson (Lyndsay Smith) of Austin, TX; and great grandchildren: Wyatt and Genevieve Hassebrock, Rowan and Kyra McSpadden, and Sonny and Elenora Somerville. He is also survived by his sister Connie Davis of York, sister-in-law Betty Ocker of Holyoke, CO, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brothers-in-law Donna and Norman Knorr and Larry Davis.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Ben Francisco officiating. Graveside services will then be held at 1:30 pm., at St. John Lutheran Cemetery south of Waco, NE. The service will be streamed on the church's website at www.faithlutheranyork.com. Visitation will be from 1-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday with his family greeting friends from 6-7:30 pm that same evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to Gary Thies at Mission Central, Mapleton, IA, American Cancer Society, Faith Lutheran Church, or donor’s choice.
