Robert D. Cerveny
Robert D. Cerveny, 71, of York, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at York.
He was born in Beatrice at a whopping 13-plus pounds on Jan. 2, 1943 to Ben and Erma (Chrastil) Cerveny. He grew up on the family farm by Hallam. He had three brothers and two sisters. Robert was a prankster. He loved cars, tractors and working on them.
He married Constance Sedam on July 21, 1961 at Kramer and to this union five children were born: Teresa, Cindy, Kimmie, Susie and Wes.
Robert worked at the brickyard in Lincoln, ALPO Pet Foods, did construction work and worked on the roads till he moved to Osceola in 1974 when he started work for Burke Construction in Stromsburg. He worked there till 1997. His last job was for John Deere in Osceola until retiring in 2003 due to health reasons. He then moved to York to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Robert loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Connie of York; three daughters, Teresa (Todd) Willcock, Kimberly (Kevin) Lammers and Susan (Jim) Stearns, all of York; son, Wesley (Lisa) Cerveny of Henderson; former son-in-law, Dean Crawford of York; grandchildren, Robert Crawford and fiancé Theresa, Tony Willcock and fiancé Marah, Taylor Willcock, Tierney (Paul) Clouse, Ashley and Brian Davis, Brittany, Kirsten, Jordyn and Brooklynn Stearns, Aaron and Kirstin Koehn and Cynthia Cerveny;
great-grandchildren, Zander, Geoff and Paxton Willcock, Porter Kruger, Braden, Hailey and Aubrey Clouse, Kyndal Cates, Jasper Crawford, Brecken Marchand, Makinley and Saphrie Davis. Also surviving are sisters, Janice (Gene) Sladek and Sharon Jelinek; brother, Ken (Geralyn) Cerveny; sisters-in-law, Sharon C. Cerveny and Sharon M. Cerveny; brothers-in-law, Jim (Cheryl) Sedam and Rick Sedam; sisters-in-law, Pheryl Clarence and Kathy (Harry) Emmel; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Cerveny, Erma Cerveny/Vlasak, Ed Vlasak; daughter, Cindy Crawford; brothers, Joseph and Franklin; nephews, Frankie Cerveny and Brad Jelinek.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Aaron Phillips officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln, Neb. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at the mortuary. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
