Robert Bryant
Robert E. Bryant, 77, formerly of York, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at his home in Columbus.
He was born Oct. 12, 1937 in Polk to Clarence and Eleanor (Johnson) Bryant. He attended school in Polk until age 12. He and his family then moved to York where he attended school. On March 29, 1956 he married Carol (Dickes) at Wahoo.
Robert worked at York Packing Company, A.J. Dresden Co. and then drove a truck for North American Van Lines. Robert and Carol wintered in Yuma, Ariz. from 1999 to 2012 before making their permanent home in Columbus. Robert enjoyed car racing, camping and being with their friends in Arizona.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Carol of Columbus; four children, Allan (Vickey) Bryant of Columbus, Dale (Brenda) Bryant of York, Donald (Mona) Bryant of York and Brenda Bryant of Columbus; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and his special Pomeranian puppy, Foxy. Also surviving are two brothers, Doug (Betty) Bryant of Grand Island and Clay Bryant of York. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Bud Cristenson officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to York’s Adopt-a-Pet.
