Patricia Saltzman
Patricia Ann (Huebert, Dick) Saltzman died June 15, 2018 at the Henderson Care Center. She was born February 8, 1940, the 10th of 11 children to Henry H. and Anna (Friesen) Huebert in York County.
Pat graduated from Henderson High School in 1957 and attended Bethel College in Newton, KS. She was baptized May 20, 1956 and was a lifetime member at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson, where she taught children’s Sunday school and sang in the chancel choir most of her lifetime.
Pat married Franklin T. (Tom) Dick on June 23, 1961 in a double wedding with her sister Em and brother-in-law, Joe Pankratz. Pat and Tom were blessed with two children, Patrice and Corey.
Pat and Tom shared 44 years together, until Tom’s passing in 2005. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and especially treasured moments with her grandchildren, and Pat and Tom enjoyed attending the many church, school, and athletic events involving their grandchildren. She had a giving spirit and always had home baked goodies ready. Over the years, Pat worked at the Dutch Kitchen, in the bakery at Friesen IGA, and at Northern Pump and Irrigation. She loved playing card and board games, watching sports, and playing the piano.
On September 11, 2011, Pat married Don Saltzman, of Shickley, NE. They enjoyed each other’s company for nearly 7 years. Pat and Don continued to enjoy attending numerous events of the grandkids.
Survivors include husband, Don of Shickley her children Patrice and Scott Gaines of Lincoln and their children Brady, of Omaha, and Karli, of Lincoln, and Corey and Stacy Dick of Henderson and their children Sidney (fiancé Jeremy Morton) and Camryn of Omaha.
Other survivors include, siblings, Jennie Friesen, Twila (Lauren) Penner, John (Adeline) Huebert, and Em (Joe) Pankratz, and sisters-in-law, Elvera Huebert and Geraldine Parrish. Don’s siblings: Roland (Leona) Saltzman, Darreld (Rhonda) Saltzman, Mattie (Donald) Kuhns, Aubrey (Glenda) Saltzman, Barbara (Larry) Eichelberger, and Gary (Donna) Saltzman.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Tom Dick; her parents, Henry H. and Anna Huebert; father-in-law and step mother-in-law Frank and Tena Dick, stepmother, Katharine (Peters) Huebert; brothers Harvey, Lester, Leo, Milton; sisters Adeline and Darlene; sisters-in-law DeLorris Huebert and brothers-in-law Robert Friesen and John K. (Bud) Steingard and many other family and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Bethesda Mennonite cemetery at Henderson. Memorial services to follow at 2:30 p.m., at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverend Jim Voth officiating. Visitation will be from 1-9:00 p.m., Tuesday with her family greeting friends from 7-9:00 p.m., that same evening at the mortuary in Henderson. Memorials may be directed to the Orchestra fund or to the Bethesda Radio Fund.
