Orval Stahr
Orval John Stahr, age 72 of York, NE died Thursday, July 18, 2019 at York. He was born March 17, 1947 in York to John P. and Donna Rae (Parks) Stahr. On December 28, 1968, he was married to Rosemary Lyons at Lincoln, NE. Orval was a City Planning Consultant, a York area farmer and a former York County Commissioner. He was a longtime member of St Joseph Catholic Church in York where he served as an acolyte and taught CCD Sunday School classes. Orval was instrumental in starting the Cornerstone Sports Complex in York and loved to coach soccer. He was a great community servant and deeply loved the City of York.
He is survived by his fiance’ Monica Milleson of York, sons; Jason (Sharon) Stahr of Gretna, NE, Joshua (Casey) Stahr of Omaha, NE, Jordan (Kelsey Poloncic) Stahr also of Omaha. His daughter Jessica (Tony Knollenberg) Stahr of Lincoln, and Ethan Greenlee.
His grandchildren include; Christy (Scott) Rine of Bellevue, NE, Sarah (Casey) Freyer of Omaha, Victoria Stahr of Nashville, TN, Alyssa Stahr of Gretna, Jadyn Stahr of Gretna, Noah Stahr of Omaha, Brinley Stahr also of Omaha, Alexander Stahr, Emerson Stahr, Harlow Stahr and Tyler Rose Stahr.
His Great grandchildren include; Kinzie, Keegan, Kratyn and Karter Rine,
Alexis, Ashlynd, Jaxen and Alivia Freyer, and Evander Doggett.
His surviving siblings include; James (Barbara) Stahr formerly of York and now of San Tan Valley, AZ and Jean (John) Roehrs of San Diego, CA. Nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Rosemary Stahr.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York with Father Denton Morris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday and then all day Tuesday at the mortuary. A Rosary service will be said 5:30 p.m., Tuesday evening at the mortuary with his family greeting friends after the Rosary service. Memorials may be directed to the Rosemary Stahr Memorial Soccer Scholarship through the York Community Foundation.
