Norma R. Rohde
Picture
Norma R. Rohde, of Aurora Community Care, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015.

She was the youngest of six children, born to Henry and Minnie (Blase) Smith. She was born June 5, 1914 at Polk. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was baptized June 28, 1914 and confirmed April 1, 1928. On March 19, 1937 she was united in marriage to Lester Rohde of Hampton. At that time she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she has attended since. They were blessed with two daughters, Kathleen and Lavera.

Norma was hard working, loved to sew, quilt and bake. She was her husband’s right hand on the farm, cooked many meals for corn shellers and hay crews. They retired to Hampton in 1976, where she continued to make quilts for the family and made many World Relief quilts for the Zion Lutheran ladies aid. You never left her house without having coffee and homemade cookies.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Rathjen of York and Lavera (Ron) Martin of Panama; grandchildren, Wanda (Royce) Buller of Hampton, David (Sara) Buller of York and T.J. (Sarah) Martin of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Ben (Stephanie) Buller of Hampton, John (Alicia) Buller of Lincoln, Eric and Haley Buller of Lincoln and Josh, Aaron and Lauren Davis of Utah and great-great grandsons, Braden and Ethan Buller. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Robert Buller; two grandsons, Kevin Buller and Scott Martin; two brothers, Martin and Alvin Smith and three sisters, Marie Smith, Viola Ziegelbein and Sophie Dose.

Our family is very grateful for the loving care given to mom while she was at the Aurora Community Care. A big thank-you to all the nurses and Doctor Jobman for being so good to her for the last eight years. We are very blessed to have had her for so many years, and for the deep faith that she had and shared with all. We praise the Lord for all the grace and mercy shown to her.
