Nancy Richert

Nancy Lou Richert, 82, of Ulysses, NE, died on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Emerald Nursing Home in Columbus, NE. She was born August 8, 1939 to Herbert F. and Grace L. (Rick) Degner in Reedsburg WI. She was baptized into the Christian faith on September 19, 1939 and confirmed her faith on March 29, 1953 at St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wonewoc, WI. She attended Voorhis District 2 Country School, Woodland township, Sauk County for six years and graduated from eighth grade at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran School, Wonewoc, WI. She graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1957. In 1960, she graduated from the three-year program at Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm MN. She received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education from Concordia Teachers College, Seward NE in 1962. She taught in Lutheran Elementary Schools in Stanton and Omaha NE.

On August 7, 1966, Nancy was united in holy matrimony to Robert C. Richert of Gresham, NE at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wonewoc WI. They resided all their married life on a farm near Ulysses, NE. Robert & Nancy were active members of St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gresham NE until it was closed in 1991. Subsequently they joined Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, York NE.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, and six children, Rachelle (William) Morris of Coon Rapids, MN, Timothy (Megan) Richert, Gresham, NE, Heidi (Robert) Brase, Alvo, NE, Velora (Klaus) Meyer, Paderborn, Germany, David (Roxann) Richert, Ulysses, NE, and Carlin (Joyce) Richert, Gresham, NE; and 18 grandchildren, Jacob and Andrew Morris, Christian and Micah Richert, Rebekah, Alexander, Katharina, Dietrich, and Ethan Brase, Lukas and Emmaly Meyer, Audrey, Esther, and Nathaniel Richert, and Isaiah, Malachi, Rosella, and Martina Richert; two sisters, Marilyn (Ralph) Eberhardt, Sheboygan WI, and Beverly (John) Biermeier, LaCrosse, WI, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert & Grace Degner, brothers and sisters-in-law, Herbert & Crystal Degner, and Eugene & Irmgard Degner, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Julaine & Harry Miller, and Donna & Jack Giles, and one grandson, Simeon Richert.
 
A Christian funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021, at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in York, NE with Pastor Mark Haefner officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery east of Gresham.  Visitation will be from 1-8:00 pm, Thursday with her family greeting friends that same evening from 6-7:30 pm at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran High School.
