Mildred Reetz

Mildred I. Reetz, age 91, of Benedict, NE died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at York. She was born March 29, 1927 in rural McCool Jct, NE to Edward and Matilda (Dinkelman) Markworth. She was baptized April 17, 1927 and later confirmed June 9, 1940 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, York. Mildred graduated from McCool Jct High School and then was a country school teacher in the McCool Jct area for several years prior to her marriage. On August 31, 1947 she was married to Leabert Reetz at York, and they have resided on the family farm near Benedict for the past 71 years. She was a prior member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, and then a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in York, where she was a long time member of LWML, Sunday school teacher and also taught catechism. She cooked for many church activities and was instrumental in helping design the new church kitchen. She enjoyed working in her garden and loved to sew. She was employed as a seamstress for Champion Home Builders for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and joining in all their activities.

She is survived by her husband Leabert of Benedict, her son Gary (Cheryl) Reetz of York, and daughters Cheryl (Doug) Deprez of Benedict, and Sandra Wolfe of Polk, NE. Her grandchildren include; Clayton (Beth) Deprez, Michelle Kreifels, Lee (Leslie) Wolfe, Melanie Reetz-Hansel, Sarah (Syd) Hamilton, Justin (Melissa) Reetz. Great grandchildren include; Kenzie, Jackson, Rachel, Jovie, Braylon, Amirah, Mavrik, Lenayah, Blake and Liv. Also surviving is her sister Luella (Delbert) Holtzen of Deshler, NE. Nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Connie Sue, son-in-law Dan Wolfe, and two sisters Ruth Maronde, and Esther Klute.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Dr. Heath Trampe officiating. Burial will take place in St. Paul Cemetery north of York. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8:00 p.m., and then continue all day Monday with her family greeting friends from 6-8:00 p.m., later that evening at the mortuary.  Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church Kitchen Project Fund, in memory of Connie Sue Reetz.
