Michael J. Haye
Michael J. Haye, 58, passed away on February 4, 2020, in Redding, California. Mike was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 10, 1961.
Mike since a young age loved the land, with farming always near to his heart. As he got older he found a passion out in the fields where he worked as a customer harvester for many years following the wheat harvest with his crew from Texas to Montana. His love for equipment also started at a young age (even taking apart his dad’s tractor just to see what was inside). With this passion, he later moved to California working large construction projects around the San Francisco Bay area as the owner and operator of his trucking company Haye Hauling.
Having a love for the land, he divided his time between San Francisco and Northern California where he and his wife Charlotte had a beautiful country home near Mt. Shasta. As well as trucking he worked as a skilled mechanic and licensed general contractor. Mike always enjoyed working on projects around their home and on their land, and spending time with the dogs and cats that found their way to them. He was always at rest after a long week of work watching the sunset behind the mountains from the back patio. He was always at peace in the wild beauty of nature, open spaces out in the country, or on the open road.
He is survived, and will be very greatly missed, by his wife, Charlotte; his son Branden (Sandra); his daughter Bria (Tommy) and their children Riley and Hailey; father John; sister Susan, brothers Steve and Jeff, and their spouses and children. He was very close to and predeceased by his mother, Ann Louise Taylor Haye.
Funeral services will be held at the Metz Chapel in York on Saturday, February 22, at 2 p.m., with burial following in Greenwood Cemetery in York near his mother’s resting place in her family plot. Memorials may be directed to the family. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Condolences may be emailed to Metz Mortuary Messages will be given to the family.
