Maxine Carlson
Life long Nebraska resident Maxine Carlson, age 93 of York, NE, died Sunday May 27, 2012 at York. She was born on December 4, 1918 in Bradshaw, NE to Edward G. and Maude V. (Beistline) Otte, married Raymond W. Carlson on April 11, 1942, and lived most of her life in York, NE. She retired in 1999 and was well liked and loved by the community she lived in. Friends and family adored her and will truly miss her warm smile and friendly attitude to life. She truly had a heart of gold. Many friends commented that she was a mother to them over the years.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York and served the Navy Mothers Club as a member for over 27 years and was voted in as Commander of the York Navy Mothers Club for several years. Maxine enjoyed the love of her family, playing pinochle, and fishing when she was younger. All the sons thought the world of her.
Ps: Johnny Mac had always told us mom thought he was the number one son. The other two boys are protesting that Ps. statement.
Survivors include three sons: James Ray Carlson of Eagle River, Alaska, Robert John Carlson of Cumming, Georgia, Johnny Mac Carlson of Grand Island, New York; half-brother Walter Otte of Pueblo, CO and half-brother Louis Otte of Apple Valley, CA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, step-son Gerald Dwight Carlson, and three sisters: Vernie Sara Meinkie, Hazel Ruth Carlson, and Susie Mildred Toews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Graveside services will be held later on that afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Visitation will begin after 1:00 pm Wednesday at the mortuary.
