Betty J. Berggren
Mary Helen Berryman, York, went to be with the Lord on June 6, 2006, in Lincoln. She was born July 27, 1920, in North Braddock, Pa., to Harry and Agnes (Kost) Hissrich. On June 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to John E. Berryman in Braddock. They moved to Lincoln in 1947. Mary Helen was the administrative assistant for the state of Nebraska Engineers and Architects Examining Board until her retirement in 1985, when she moved to York. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in York, the altar society, Catholic Daughters and Legion Auxiliary. Mary Helen enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, needlework and making over 5000 rosaries for the missions.
Survivors: daughters, sons-in-law, June and Stan Klute, York, Elva and Bob Bourgeois, Baton Rouge, La.; grandson, Brandon Bourgeois, Baton Rouge; brother, sister-in-law, Harry and Fran Hissrich, Pittsburgh; niece; nephews; host of wonderful friends. Preceded in death by: parents; husband, John in 1979; sisters, Louise Colville, Jeanne Oskin.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, York. Graveside services, 3:45 p.m. Friday, Lincoln Memorial Park, 6700 S. 14th St. Those wishing to attend the graveside service may meet at the main gate of the cemetery. Visitation: begins1 p.m. today, Metz Mortuary, York, with family, 6:30-8 p.m. Memorials: church.
