Marjorie Bruns
Marjorie B. Bruns, age 88, of Seward, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2015 at Seward.
She was born Aug. 10, 1926 in Fillmore County to Clark and Almeda (Welty) Yates. Marjorie was confirmed on April 1, 1945 at the Methodist Church in Geneva. She was united in marriage to Ralph Bruns on Jan. 30, 1949 at Geneva. The union was blessed with four sons, Kenneth, Marshall, Douglas and Wayne.
Marjorie was a homemaker but had also worked at the Flying V in Utica. She also worked at Pioneer Seed Company at harvest time. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in rural Waco for 65 years, United Methodist Women, and taught Sunday school for many years. She belonged to the Happy Homemakers, Grange, enjoyed reading, especially western novels and in her younger years showed livestock in 4-H. She loved her pets and always enjoyed taking them out for walks. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them and attending their activities.
Marjorie is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Corrine) Bruns, Marshall (LuAnn) Bruns, Douglas (Brenda) Bruns, and Wayne (Lori) Bruns all of Waco; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Elaine Yates of Geneva; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church south of Waco. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. that evening.
