Marguerite "Dee" George
On Sunday June 13, 1926 in North Platte, Nebraska, our Loving Heavenly Father gave Dee her first breath of life. Her parents were George and Mae (Culver) Wilson. Dee was raised in a very loving family and often shared fond memories of growing up with her brothers, sisters, and cousins. They were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Dee attended school in North Platte and graduated with the class of 1944.
Dee was united in marriage to Ray on Jan 13, 1945 at First Lutheran Church in North Platte. That same year, Dee was also baptized and confirmed. Three children were blessed to this marriage: Anita Ray, Peggy Eileen, and Riley Henry. They made their home north of Hershey where they attended Maria Lutheran Church.
In 1963 the family moved to York and joined First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Dee balanced raising a family with her work at JCPenney. She was a member of the York Business and Professional Women’s club. In 1970, they moved to a farm north of York and joined Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Dee enjoyed worship, Sunday School, and was a member of LWML. Dee will always be remembered for her kind nature, loving spirit, and hospitality as she enjoyed having coffee and spending time with neighbors, her large extended family, and friends. Throughout the years, Dee enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and traveling in their motorhome.
During retirement, Dee and Ray enjoyed visiting friends and family. They made their home in Mesa, AZ and eventually returned to Grand Island and joined Grace Lutheran Church. As their needs increased, Dee and Ray lived together at Riverside Independent and Assisted Living in Grand Island until Ray’s passing in 2012. Dee eventually received additional loving care at Wedgewood (Azria Health) in Grand Island.
On Tuesday May 4th, 2021, at the age of 94, Dee was transferred from the Kingdom of Grace to the Lord’s Kingdom of Glory to meet with her Savior Jesus face to face.
Dee is survived by her children Anita of Omaha, Peggy of Waverly, and Riley (Marcia) of Eustis. Brother Stanley of Westminster, CO, sister-in-law Donna Murphy of North Platte, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson Isaac Speece, sons-in-law Todd Speece and Sherman Dunkin.
Blessed are those who live and die in the Lord!
