Lue R. Etherton Jr., age 84 of York, NE, died Friday, January 8, 2021 at home surrounded by family. He was born on December 18, 1936 to Lue R. and Gladys (Schneiber) Etherton Sr. at Red Cloud, NE. On October 26, 1958. Lue was united in marriage to Bonnie Miller in Columbus, NE.
Lue was a milk delivery man for Robert’s Dairy. He was a member of East Hill Church of Christ in York. He enjoyed bowling and going to car races and car shows. He was a Nebraska football, women’s basketball, and volleyball fan, and Kansas City Royals Baseball fan.
He is survived by his son Michael Etherton of York, daughter Vickie (Ivan) Keller of York, daughter-in-law Deborah Etherton of Jefferson, IA, and honorary son Mike Dawson of York; 6 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Jeff, brothers Jim and Wayne, and sisters Joan and Dorothy.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the East Hill Church of Christ, York. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Lue’s funeral will be live streamed on Metz Mortuary’s Facebook page. COVID 19 Funeral Guidelines will be implemented with limited spaced seating (75% occupancy), 6 feet of separation between household units and masks required.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 1-8pm at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
