Lucile Pauline Barrett
Lucile Pauline Barrett, age 97, died April 15th, 2007 at York, Nebraska. She was born August 24, 1909 to Ralph Rolland Rogers and Agnes L. (Boddy) Rogers in Elm Creek, Nebraska. She attended Bayard High School but graduated in her senior year, 1927, in Wickenburg, Arizona. She attended Chadron State College and taught school for a short time, She married Robert M. Barrett August 1st, 1931 in Gering, Nebraska. They moved to York in 1933. Lucile worked at the Gale Studio for five years, taught Sunday school, where she and Bob were leaders of the Methodist Church Youth Fellowship for three years, she was President of Parent Teachers Association at Willard School, a Blue Flame leader of York High School in 1958, and Y -Teens Mothers' Club. She was a long time member of First Methodist Church in York. Lucile was president of York Woman's Department Club in 1968-1969, again in 1985-1986, and 1986-1987. She was a District IV president in 1975, serving in all club offices, a member of Mississippi Valley Conference, a present District IV chairman, a past state chairman of Educational Loan Fund and Historian for Nebraska Federation of Women's Clubs Inc., past president of BPO Does Lodge, a member of Governor's Nebraska Women for Highway Safety and long time member of the York Garden Club. Past Masonic affiliations included; Matron in 1962 of Grace Chapter #87 Order of Eastern Star and a Grand Chapter Assistant Warden at Grand Lodge, a past Guardian of Bethel #19 of York's Job's Daughters, a past Grand Guardian of Nebraska, a Supreme Officer, and Grand Deputy. She had been involved in Job's Daughters for many years.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Phillip (Morna Maxine) Warren of Chadron, and Mrs. Kenneth (Jeanette) Muench Ogden, Utah, two Grandchildren, Gregory A. Anderson and wife Gena of Daniel, Wyoming and Jennifer L. Graboski and husband Jeff of Junction City, Wisconsin; four Great Grand children, Ashlee L. Anderson and Chase A.J. Anderson of Daniel, Wyoming and Jill C. Graboski and Jacob R. Graboski of Junction City, Wisconsin, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert Moore Barrett, daughter, Patricia M. Anderson, father, Ralph Rolland Rogers, mother, Agnes L. Rogers, brother, Paul Keen Rogers, and sister, DeLaine Rigg.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday April 21, at the Metz Chapel in York, Nebraska with the Rev. Gilbert Karges officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in York. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the York General Hearthstone or one of the above organizations that Lucile was involved in. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Friday and continue on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time.
