Lloyd LeRoy Baker Jr.

Lloyd LeRoy Baker Jr., age 83, died Monday, March 4, 2019 in York, Nebraska. He was born May 14, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska to Lloyd and Henrietta (Jacobsen) Baker Sr. LeRoy graduated from high school in Miller, South Dakota and then enlisted in the National Guard.
 
On May 21, 1956, he married his beloved Joyce Ann Stauffer in Orient, South Dakota. LeRoy farmed for a short time before moving to York and working for Champion Home Builders. He worked his way up in the company, lived and traveled around the country and retired after 38 years with Champion. LeRoy and Joyce were married for 59 years and had four children.

LeRoy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and York Country Club. He was an avid sports fan and especially rooted for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the KC Royals.

He is survived by his children: Carol (Tom Owens) Kirchner of Aurora, Colorado; Kim (Betsy) Baker of Custer, South Dakota; Kent Baker of Lincoln, Nebraska; Maria (Brian) Holst of Omaha, Nebraska. Grandchildren: Kyle (Alina) Kirchner, Dr. Megan (Dr. Marc) Ofchinick, Emily (Ryan) Nyberg; Cassie (Joseph) Weiler, Adam, Elisabeth and Jacquelyn Baker; Sarah, Nathan and Logan Holst; Step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. 

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Baker, sisters Marge Sorensen, Norma Douglas, Bonnie Franken Blair and his wife, Joyce.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St Joseph Catholic Church in York with the Reverend Monsignor James Reinert officiating. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Metz Chapel in York. Visitation will be from 1-8:00 p.m., Friday with his family greeting friends after the rosary service. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic School.
