Lee W. Apetz
Lee W. Apetz, age 84, of York, NE, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at his home. He was born October 17, 1929 to Carl Apetz and Clara Wellman Apetz in York County, NE. He was baptized November 24, 1929 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Waco, NE. In 1944, he was confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church York, NE. He graduated from York High School in 1948. Lee is a veteran of the US Navy where he served his country from 1948 to 1952. On September 23, 1951, he married Wanda Goesch at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, NE. To this union two sons were born, Robert in 1954 and James in 1959. Lee worked for E.S. Clark Lumber Company until 1980 when he and Wanda relocated to Estes Park, Colorado where they managed Rockmount Cottages until retiring and returning to York, NE in 2003.
Survivors are his wife Wanda of York; sons: Robert (Karen) Apetz of Fort Worth, TX and James (Donnell) Apetz of Nipomo, CA; three grandchildren: Andrew (Rebecca) Apetz of North Carolina, Kensley (Jason) Sutherlin of Texas, and Taylor Apetz of California; four great grandchildren: Maddie, Rylee, Austin, and Conner; one brother, Alvin (Luella); sister Darlene Senff; and sister-in-law Fay Hinze all of York. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Delbert, and sister Mildred.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Lee will be cremated following the service and private inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, York, at a later date. Visitation will be Friday from 1pm-9 pm at Metz Mortuary with the family greeting friends from 6:00-7:30 pm. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
