Leah Janice Weldon
Leah Janice Weldon, age 93 of York, NE died Monday, July 21, 2014 at York. She was born August 22, 1920 to Henry A. and Mabel L. (Fuleton) Parker at Stromsburg, NE. She graduated from Stromsburg High School and then married John H. Weldon on October 8, 1938 in Aurora, NE.
A homemaker, devoted wife, and mother of twelve, Leah was a model of traditional values. She had an innate curiosity about life and the world around her. She was very studious, enjoyed history, and the Latin language. Later on in life, she continued on with caring for others at The Hearthstone as an RN Assistant. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was readily available with a joke. She took great pride in taking care of her family and watching them grow and continue on in her legacy.
Leah is survived by ten children: Mary J. (Richard) McDonald of York, Janice B. (Gary) Schumacher of Longmont, CO, John H. Weldon of York, Lois J. Crandell of Grand Junction, CO, Harry L. (Beth) Weldon of York, Betty J. (Mike) Schueler of Wichita, KS, Tina L. (Andrew) Howells of Fallon, NV, Leo M. Weldon of Fullerton, NE, Jason L.D. Weldon of York, and Lisa D. Jewett of Wichita, KS. Also surviving are 26+ Grandchildren, 43+ Great Grandchildren, and 29+ Great Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 1972, brother Harry Parker, son Wilbert (Lynn) Weldon, daughter JoAnn Boyd, daughter-in-law Edna L. Weldon, and granddaughters Leah P. McDonald, Leann Lankford, and Leslie Neville.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday July 26, 2014 at Metz Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, York. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5pm-9pm, Friday from 9am-9pm with family greeting friends Friday evening from 7pm-8:30pm. Memorials may be directed to York Adopt-A-Pet, York General Hearthstone, or to the family for later designation.
