Larry E. Bowman Sr.
Larry E. Bowman Sr., age 69 of York, NE, died Thursday, February 14, 2013 in Omaha, NE. He was born November 28, 1943 at York to Forrest and Wilmadean (Landis) Bowman. Larry was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Doris Sadowski on June 2, 1962 in York. Larry worked at Champion Homes in York as a welder for close to 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York and Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th Degree Knight. Larry was the state coordinator for the Christian Motorcycle Association and a member of the Modern Knights Motorcycle Club. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed traveling, and especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife Doris of York; sons, Larry Bowman Jr. of Lincoln, NE and Scott (Vicki) Bowman of Benedict, NE; brothers, Bob (Judy) Bowman of Bradshaw and Butch (Barb) Bowman of York; sisters, Peggy (Ken) Friesen of Henderson, NE and Sherrie (Ross) Crow of Surgonville, TN.
Grandchildren include: Levi, Luke, Lance and Macy Bowman of Lincoln, and Turner, Sam, and Blake Bowman of Benedict. Also surviving are uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Larry in death were his parents, sister, Linda, and grandson, Joshua.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 18, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York with the Reverend Monsignor James Reinert officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery east of York. A Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Sunday at Metz Mortuary. Visitation will be from 2-9 pm Sunday with the family greeting friends following the Rosary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
