Juanita Buck
Juanita Buck, age 86 of York, entered the gates of Heaven on August 7, 2011. She was born on October 3, 1924 at Waco to John C. and Bertha K. (Wilksen) Bredehoft, and baptized into the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer on November 2, 1924.
She reaffirmed her faith at the time of her confirmation on June 12, 1938 at Peace Lutheran Church, Waco.
Juanita attended country school north of Waco and later attended Waco High School, graduating in 1942. After high school she remained at home to help out on the farm while her brother, Rolland served overseas in the military.
On December 7, 1947, Juanita and Wilbur C. Buck were united in marriage at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco, and celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2007.
Juanita provided a strong and loving Christian home for her family and was committed to and supportive of Wilbur in their farming operation and later in the insurance business.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and sewing and was involved in their church and the Waco community. Juanita also worked as a waitress in the Waco area for a number of years.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Rich) Hankel of York and Karen (Mike) Stahr of Marble Falls, Texas; grandchildren, Jody (Ryan) Church of Gardner, Kan., Jeff (Katie) Hankel of Gardner, Kan., John (Mya) Hankel of Omaha, Kasey (Brandon) Belk of Kingsland, Texas and Shelly (Kurtis) Maxwell of Marble Falls, Texas; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Megan Church of Gardner, Kan., Ashley and Erin Hankel of Omaha, Tyler and Sydney Belk of Kingsland, Texas and Halle Maxwell of Marble Falls, Texas; a sister-in-law Gertrude Bredehoft of York, brother-in-law Les Gray of Waco and niece Deb Huffman of York.
Preceding her in death were her parents, son John, husband Wilbur, brother Rolland Bredehoft and sister Pauline Gray.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco with the Reverend Charles Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at the Waco Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Wednesday, with family greeting friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.
