Joyce A. Baker, age 78 of York, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
She was born Sept. 9, 1936 at Orient, S.D. to Edward and Hilda (Witte) Staufer. She was married May 21, 1956 to Lloyd LeRoy Baker in Orient. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York and St. Joseph Altar Society.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, LeRoy of York; children, Carol (Tom Owens) Kirchner of Aurora, Colo., Kim (Betsy) Baker of Custer, S.D., Kent Baker of Lincoln and Maria (Brian) Holst of Omaha; grandchildren include, Kyle, Megan and Emily Kirchner, Adam, Elizabeth, Jacquelyn Baker and Cassandra Weiler and Sarah, Nathan and Logan Holst; step-grandchildren, two sisters, Jeanette Thorstenson of Rapid City, S.D. and Jane (Don) Samuelson of Ellenton, Fla. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Harley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. A Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday evening at Metz Mortuary. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic School.
