John W. Rempel
John W. Rempel, age 80 of Henderson, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at Henderson.
He was born Aug. 8, 1933 in York County to Gerhard T. and Olga (Regier) Rempel. He was a graduate of Freeman Jr. Academy in Freeman, S.D. John farmed in Hamilton County and owned and operated John Rempel Construction as well. He was united in marriage to Lorene G. Bergen on June 16, 1953.
They celebrated 41 years together before Lorene’s death in 1995. John was later married to Deloris (Duerksen) Goertzen on Nov. 28, 1996. John enjoyed traveling, riding his scooter, and being with family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his dog Tobey.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 17 years, Deloris, of Henderson; son, Scott (Brenda) Rempel of Hesston, Kan.; sons-in-law, Steve Dunham of York and Stacey (Shari) Froemming of Omaha; five grandchildren, Adam (Abby) Froemming of Alexandria, Va., Erik Siebrass of York, Chelsey Rempel of Hesston, Kan., Stephanie (fiancé Brian C. Bellows) Dunham of York and Cody Rempel of Henderson; one great-grandchild, Dakota Siebrass of York; two sisters, Esther Wall of Henderson and Elizabeth Friesen of Lincoln and one brother, Walt (Anna) Rempel of Henderson.
John is also survived by Deloris’s children and their families: Kevin (Vicky) Goertzen of Aurora, Deon (Susan) Goertzen of Hampton, Ruth Ann (Randy) Franz of Berryville, Ark., Rita (Mark) Kroeker of Hampton, Jodi (Hans) Huebert of Henderson and Dana Bolton of Aurora.
John was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Lorene; three daughters, Judy Rempel, Jeanne Froemming and Pearl Dunham; one grandson, Grant; two great-grandchildren, Brynlee Geortzen and Levi Franz; two brothers-in-law, Pete Wall and Levi Friesen and sister-in-law Arlene Rempel.
Graveside services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Bethesda Cemetery with memorial services to follow at 10:30 a.m. at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Monday at the mortuary in Henderson with the family greeting friends from 7-8:30 pm.
