John J. Harig

John J. Harig, age 47 of York, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 in Omaha.

He was born June 2, 1969 in Lincoln to Catherine Dougherty.

John was a forklift operator and a member of the United Methodist Church in McCool Jct. He was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, racing go-carts, Nascar races and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Angel of York; children, Siera Stacy of York, Samantha Zimmerman-Harig of Seward, John Harig Jr. of York and Justin Harig of York; sisters, Deb Bray of Lincoln and Jackie (Tony) Peterson of Aurora; brother, Tony Hiatt of Bradshaw; aunt, Patricia Andersen of Milwaukee, Wis.; nephew, Eli Bray of Lincoln; niece, Kailoni Bray of Lincoln; and mother-in-law, Debbie Merritt of York.  

John was preceded in death by his mother.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Ralph Gaines officiating. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the mortuary with the family greeting friends from 6 - 7 p.m. Thursday evening. The family has requested casual dress for John’s service. Lunch will be served following the service at East Hill Park. Memorials may be directed to the family.  ​
