Joann Copeland
Joann Copeland, 49, of Waco, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 at Waco. She was born Feb. 18, 1964 at Bassett to Edgar and Iona (Christ) Devall. Joann was united in marriage to Don Copeland on April 7, 1984 at Bassett. She was employed at the York County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher.
Joann is survived by her husband, Don of Waco; sons, Brad and Keith of Waco; five sisters, Lora Clausen of Nampa, Idaho, Bertha Shay of Oregon, Helen Bartlett of Bassett, Linda Devall of Ainsworth and Ione Anderson of Bassett; four brothers, Charles, Ed, and Harold Devall all of Bassett and Bob Devall of Inman.
Joann is also survived by an uncle, Melvin Christ of Ralston; her mother-in-law, Janet Stewart of Bassett; and her brother-in-law, Al Hoffman of Washington State.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Tom Devall; and two sisters, Marjorie Hoffman and Dorothy Devall.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at the Metz Chapel in York. In lieu of food or flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Joann will be taking one last ride with her family and friends to the Niobrara River area later this spring.
