Jim Dey
Jim Dey, age 66, of Gresham, NE, died Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Lincoln, NE. He was born March 15, 1946 at Stromsburg, NE to Melvin and Helen (Walford) Dey. He graduated from Gresham High School in 1964 and attended the University of Nebraska College of Agriculture in Lincoln for two years.
In 1967, joined the Army National Guard, serving for six years. Jim was a lifelong farmer in the Gresham area. He was united in marriage to Linda Bailey on November 10, 1968 at York, NE. Jim was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Gresham for 47 years where he served as trustee, elder, and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed fishing in Colorado, and evaluating the ever-changing farm markets.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Gresham; son John Dey and wife Kerri of Gresham; daughter Jenny and fiancé Nathan Leitner of Lincoln; brother Doug Dey and wife Marilyn of Gresham; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at the Gresham Presbyterian Church with the Reverend John Nellessen officiating. Burial will be in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and all day Monday at Metz Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m., Monday evening. Memorials may be directed to the Gresham Fire Department.
