Janice Jeffrey
Janice Jeanette Jeffrey, age 86, of York, NE, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in Papillion, NE. Janice was born on May 5, 1936, to Gaynord and Lucille (Maronde) Brown in York. On May 4, 1957 she was united in marriage to Joseph E. Jeffrey in Lincoln, NE. After his death, she married David Krejci on August 6, 1996 in York.
Janice was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in York. She was a rural route postal worker, and had also worked as a car salesman for Geis Motors in York. At one point in her life, she lived at the Ford Fish Hatchery within the Spokane Indian Reservation in Washington state. She held a private pilot’s license and loved driving her ‘Cardinal Red Jaguar’. Janice enjoyed photography, slide and movie films, knitting, baking bread and cinnamon rolls, bicycling and walking and dancing. Janice loved life.
Janice is survived by her sons Mark (Nicolette) Jeffrey of Bellevue, NE, and Eric (Colleen) Jeffrey of LaVista, NE, her daughter Kathryn (Bill) Graves of Cantonment, FL. She is also survived by her sisters Joan (Bob) Pence of York, and Cynthia Becker of Fort Myers, FL, her brother Dennis (Mary) Brown of Waco, NE, and grandchildren Gabriel Jeffrey of Port O’Conner, TX, Luke Jeffrey and Grace Jeffrey of Bellevue, and Elizabeth Jeffrey and Ian Jeffrey of LaVista.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, son Phillip Joseph Jeffrey, and her brother-in-law Jim Becker.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, with the Reverend Father John Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Metz Mortuary in York. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday with Jan’s family greeting friends one hour prior to the rosary. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Church or St. Joseph School.
