Janet Bright
Janet May Bright, age 87 of Fairmont, NE, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 14, 2022. She was born May 28, 1934 to Orlando Roy and Hilda Christine (Foltz) Hull in Grafton, NE. She graduated from Grafton High School and then attended the University of Nebraska for two years, studying Business Administration.
On February 1, 1958, Janet was united in marriage to Frank William Bright in Denver, CO and to this union 4 children were born. They later divorced.
Jan spent her career as an executive secretary, which included accounting and record keeping, finally retiring from Pioneer Hybrid International. She then worked part-time as an Activities Assistant at the Senior Center of Geneva.
Jan was a 50-year member of the Fairmont Community Church, where she was involved in numerous church activities, including Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. She loved books and to read on her kindle and frequented the Fairmont Public Library, where she also served as a board member. Many of Jan’s favorite hobbies included tending to her flowers, a good card game, working crossword puzzles, or sitting at her sewing machine. She was a faithful and avid Husker fan, had an admiration for butterflies, and loved the color purple. Jan was a proud breast cancer survivor, and continued to be an advocate for other survivors. Most of all, she loved her family and took great pride in all of their accomplishments.
Jan is survived by her children: Debra Swartz of Henderson, NE, Steven (Debbie) Bright and granddaughter Destiny Bright of La Crescenta, CA, Sandra Bright and significant other Jerry Bello and his children Chelsea and Dylan of Stamford, Conn, nephews: John (Glenda) Hull, Tim (Carol) Hull, David (Jaquie) Hull, Rob (Marybeth) Hull, and Paul (Monica) Hull, her cousin Iona Dierberger, and many other relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Gerald, siblings John (Norma) Hull and Don (Virginia) Hull, and son-in-law David Swartz.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 21, 2022 at the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont, NE. Burial will follow in the Grafton Cemetery, Grafton, NE. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm on Friday, with family greeting friends from 6-8 pm, at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the Fairmont Public Library.
