James Kmoch
James ‘Jim’ W. Kmoch, age 73, of York, NE, died Friday, April 6, 2018 at Grand Island, NE. He was born October 18, 1944 to James and Emma (Novotny) Kmoch in Columbus, NE, but was raised on the farm in Leigh, NE. Jim was married to Carol Wedberg on June 21, 1969, in Lincoln. Jim and Carol were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York.
Jim was a graduate of Leigh High School, the University of Nebraska Lincoln, and had his Master’s Degree in Swine Nutrition. He was a Sales Representative for Cornhusker Farms, and also later for Waldo Genetics. Jim enjoyed Nebraska Cornhusker Football, sports in general, and also enjoyed playing fantasy football. He was an overall people person, loving father, an excellent listener, and was known for his amazing smile. Jim especially enjoyed watching his grandson Landon play sports.
He is survived by his sons Christopher (Jana) Kmoch, and grandson Landon of McCook, NE, and Kevin Kmoch of O’Neill, NE; brother Thomas (Sheila) Kmoch of Leigh, NE, sister-in-law Joyce Kmoch of Sacramento, CA, and niece Heidi Kmoch of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his brother Don.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York with the Reverend Monsignor James Reinert officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
