James Cowins
James “Jim” E. Cowins, age 74 of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022 in Medicine Lodge. He was born on April 3, 1947 to Roy and Lena (Swango) Cowins in Shelbyville, IN. Jim served his country with pride and honor as a member of the United States Army. On April 8, 1994, he was united in marriage to Karen Frazee in York, NE.
Jim was a hard-working man, loved fishing, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos and Nascar racing. He was a wonderful loving husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Karen of Medicine Lodge, KS, sons: Chris (Barb) Cowins of Lincoln, NE, Danny (Jennifer) Cowins of DeSoto, KS, and Lance (Dawn) Cowins of Medicine Lodge, KS, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers Jerry Cowins of Ventura, CA and Greg (Pam) Cowins of Lincoln, NE, and sister Debbie Verhege of Fairmont, NE, many nieces and nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Pete, and sister Carolyn.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 18, 2022 at Fairmont Cemetery in Fairmont, NE. No viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
