Harry 'Bill' Herron
“Bill” Herron, 65, of McCool Junction, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 near McCool Junction.
He was born June 7, 1952 in York, to Leslie R. and Marjorie L. (Teinert) Herron and graduated from York High School in 1971.
Bill was a longtime McCool area welder and farmer recently working for Jim McGowan and before that for Tracy Sheet Metal Company in York. A member of the First Lutheran Church in McCool Junction, he loved attending tractor pulls, collecting Native American artifacts and Western American History.
He is survived by his daughter Bev (John) Penrod of New Hampton, Iowa, and their children, John Penrod Jr. and Jessica Penrod, all of New Hampton, Iowa; his son, Martin Herron of Lincoln; and daughter, Kim (Chris) Buethe and their children, Jaxin Buethe and Elijah Buethe of Gretna, and a granddaughter, Savana Allbee of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Also surviving is a brother, Robert (Patricia) Herron of Utica and his sister, Mary Tieken of York.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister and his daughter, Christy.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Metz Chapel in York with PMA Jim Germer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Council Cemetery west of York.
Signing of the guest book will begin Wednesday from 1-8 p.m., and continue on into Thursday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. No viewing as Bill has been cremated.
Memorials may be directed to his family for later designation.
