Harold E. Koeneke

Harold E Koeneke, age 81, of York, died Aug.13, 2017 in Lincoln.

He was born Dec. 12, 1935 in Pawnee City to Ralph and Loretta (Stettler) Koeneke. Harold graduated Humboldt High School in 1953. He served in the AirForce from Aug. 27, 1954 to April 10, 1958. He has been a resident of York since 1967, received the Distinguished Service Award by the Jaycees in 1972, was president of York Rotary Club 1993-1994, and he was a member of the American Legion Bolton Post #19.

Harold is survived by his wife, Janice of York; children, Brenda (Scott) Hinze of York, Beth (Frank) Sandall of York and Kim Miller and significant other Brian Johnson of York; stepchildren, Diane Madding and significant other Jim of Benton, Ky., Jeff (Ana) Snyder of Houston, Texas and Mike (Tammy) Snyder of York; step-sister, Sylvia LeBoeuf of Humboldt; grandchildren, Justin (Lindsay) Hinze, Brooke (Adam) Theis, Riley Sandall and fiancé Alexandria Cerveny, Sheldon and Hayden Sandall and Spencer Miller; step-grandchildren, Alex, Sophia and Carolina Snyder, Madison (Ethan) Clark, Carly and Evan Snyder and great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Cruz Hinze and Mason and Emma Theis.

Harold is also survived by sister-in-law, Nancy Koeneke of Bangor, Wis.; sisters- in-law and brothers-in-law, Elaine and Paul Burgett, Don and Linda Eis, Ron and Debra Eis and John Eis of Humboldt.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dean Koeneke and step-mother, Thelma Koeneke.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, York. Inurnment with full military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, York. Cremation. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Metz Mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.
