Harold Bowman
Harold “Bow” Leroy Bowman, age 85 of York, NE, died Monday, July 11, 2022 at Lincoln. He was born on June 4, 1937 at rural Bradshaw, Nebraska to Clifford L. and Bertha O. (Boldt) Bowman. Harold graduated from Stromsburg High School and then served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
On June 4, 1958, Harold was united in marriage to Donna Rae Smith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. To this union three children were born: Michael, Terri, and Cheryl. Over the years Harold farmed, but also worked at Champion Home Builders, Sunflower Beef Packers, and Sunflower Carriers.
He loved family, fishing, hunting, and gardening. In 1970, the family received the First Nebraska Fishing Family of the Year Award. Also received were several Master Angler Fishing Awards and three qualifying entries in Pope & Young.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna of York, children: Michael (Judy) Bowman of Crawford, NE, Terri (Jim) Gibbs of Lincoln, and Cheryl (Steve) Brandon of Lincoln, grandchildren: Jeffrey (Mike) Bowman, Matthew (Amber) Bowman, Langdon (Aime) Bowman, Jaime Gibbs (Michael Choate), Holly Gibbs, and Baylor Brandon, great grandchildren: Treavar, Koby, Reagan, Keslee and Kyrie. He is also survived by his sister Velda Watson of Lincoln, brothers-in-law Lloyd Smith of Phoenix, AZ, Bob (Sheila) Smith of Lincoln, NE, and George Lickliter of Seward, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Sarah Smith, brother-in-law James Watson, and sister-in-law Faye Lickliter.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, July 15, 2022 at Metz Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-8 pm with family greeting friends from 6-7:30 that evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
