George E. Brugh
George E Brugh, age 67 of York, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 at his home in York.
He was born Oct. 3, 1946 in Omaha to Elroy and Maxine (Van Auker) Brugh. Following high school, George attended UNL in Lincoln where he received his law degree. He practiced law in York from 1972-2013. George and Jerrine Ripp were united in marriage on March 23, 1968 in Lincoln.
George was a member of the Nebraska and York Bar Associations. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York, the York Parks and Recreation Board, and in 1991, he received the Friend of Epworth award. George enjoyed Thursday nights at the Warehouse, golf with friends, Chicago Cubs baseball and Nebraska football and volleyball.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Jerrine of York; four daughters, Christine Brugh and family, Nashat and Manat Abdel Ghani of California and Lincoln, Amy Brugh and family, Michael, Avery and Reed Nichols of Minneapolis, Minn., Cassie Brugh of Lincoln and Michelle Brugh of York.
George is also survived by his sister, Cindy (Steve) Bakk of Austin, Texas; two nephews, Brian Bakk and Eric (Janel) Bakk and daughters of Friendswood, Texas; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in York. No viewing or visitation. In lieu of food and flowers memorials may be directed to Blue Valley Community Food Bank, York Public School’s backpack program, York Adopt-a-pet, United Methodist Women, or Epworth Village.
