Elroy "Roy" D. Huebert
Elroy “Roy” Dean Huebert, age 85, of York, NE, died Thursday, May 20, 2021 at York. He was born August 29, 1935 in Bradshaw, NE to Gus D. and Esther (Mierau) Huebert. Roy worked as a contractor and was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York. On November 4, 1961, he was united in marriage to Margaret Tomchak in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Roy enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, painting, creating things, and working with his hands. He enjoyed country music, playing in bands, and was a spiritual person. He was a member of A.A., and a Parkinson’s Support Group.
Roy is survived by his wife Margaret of York, son Vince (Simone) Huebert of Dallas, TX, daughters Gretchen (John) Borowski and Shannon Huebert, both of Kansas City, MO. His grandchildren include Dietrich and Nathan Huebert, both of Omaha. He is also survived by his siblings Margaret Huebert and Eunice Williams, both of Henderson, Lillian Reutzel and Alene Siebert, both of Lincoln, and Annette Bassinger of Rochester, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 24, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York with the Rev. Father John Sullivan officiating. The family asks those who attend to wear casual clothes. Private family inurnment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, east of York. There will be no viewing or visitation as it was Elroy’s wish to be cremated. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
