Ella Sophia Anna (Wellman) Stuhr
Ella Sophia Anna (Wellman) Stuhr, age 101, of Waco, NE, passed to her eternal home Monday, May 6, 2019 at Seward, NE. She was born February 17, 1918 in Waco, NE to Herman and Rieka (Naber) Wellman. Ella was a long time resident of York County. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church, south of Waco, and grew up in the loving care of her parents on a small farm east of Waco where her early years included tending to the farm animals and helping her mother grow gardens and flowers.
On December 20, 1936, she was united in marriage to Reinhardt “Reiny” Stuhr at the Peace Lutheran Church, Waco. She and Reiny were members of Peace Lutheran Church, where she was involved with the Ladies Aid. They made their home near Waco until Reiny retired at 65. Ella enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting, and needlework, trying to beat Reiny at a game of Pitch, and spending time with her family and friends. They truly enjoyed many travels together.
She is survived by her children, Roger Stuhr of Waco, and his daughters Tiffany (Tim) Geis of Lincoln, and Carri (Aaron) Stuhr of St. Paul, MN; Ronald (Alice) Stuhr, and their son Matt, of Topeka, KS; Kenneth (Jan) Stuhr, of Waco, and their children Scott (Tammy) Stuhr of Central City, Autumn (Kip) Reeves, of Auburn, and Travis Stuhr (Lisa Cravens) of York; Pastor Lloyd Stuhr of Plattsmouth, and his daughters Angela (Mike) Hoernemann of Shakopee, MN, and Megan Stuhr of La Vista.
She is also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Esther Wellman, daughters-in-law Linda Stuhr and Twila Stuhr.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco. Interment to follow at the Waco City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 15, with her family greeting friends from 6-8 PM that evening at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
