Ella Peters
Ella Rebecca Peters, age 94 of Henderson, NE, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in Henderson. She was born June 26, 1923 in Carpenter, South Dakota to David G. and Rebecca P.W. Hofer.
Ella was a teacher and a member of the Salem Mennonite Brethren Church in rural Bridgewater, South Dakota.
On May 12, 1946 she was married to David M. Hofer at Bridgewater, S.D. Then on December 9, 2009, she was married to Carl D. Peters at Henderson.
She is survived by her husband Carl D. of Henderson, daughters Ione Hofer of Selma, CA and Veronica A. (Mark) Friesen of Henderson, stepson Joe (Lil) Peters of Newton, KS, and step-daughter Linda (Daryl) Heisey of Rexville, NY. Also surviving is Ione’s daughter Christina Tate of Selma, CA, Veronica’s sons: Jackson (Tabbitha) Friesen of Lincoln, NE and Vincent (Melissa) Friesen of Sutton, NE, Veronica’s daughter Rebecca (Jerad) Nobel of Beaver, OK, six great grandchildren, sister-in-law Marcella Hofer of Bloomington, MN, and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David M. Hofer, sister Joyce (Clarence) Hofer, brother Dennis D. Hofer, brothers and sisters in-law: Anna (Jake D.) Wollman, Reverend Peter G. (Pauline) Hofer, Paul P.M. (Liz) Hofer, Mike P. and (Mary R.) Hofer, Menno Hofer, Mary (Edgar) Hofer, Emma (Melvin S.) Hofer, Barbara (Emil) Tschetter and Lydia (Walter) Pullman.
Visitation will be held prior to the graveside 8:30-9:30AM Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Salem Mennonite Brethren Church, with graveside services following at 10:00 am at the church cemetery, in rural Bridgewater, SD. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Salem Mennonite Brethren Church, with the Reverend Michael Petts officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held between the hours of 2-7PM Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Walter Funeral Home in Freeman, SD, with the family greeting friends from 5-7PM.
Visitation and viewing will be held at Metz Mortuary in York prior to services in Freeman, S.D. from 1:30-8:00 P.M., Friday July, 14 2017, with her family greeting friends from 3:30-5:00PM also at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
