Katlin Danielle "Katie" Allbee
Ella Allen, age 82 of York, died Thursday, May, 13 2004 at York. She was born November 19, 1921 in rural York County to Marshall M. and Helen Mabel (Walkup) Wright. She was a 1939 graduate of Benedict high School and attended York College.
She was united in marriage to Arthur Dean Allen at York on January 6, 1952. The couple farmed southeast of York for several years and then moved to Iowa. They returned to Benedict in 1963 where they lived and farmed until retiring in York. Ella worked at the ASCS office in York, the York County Courthouse and was the secretary at the Benedict Public Schools for several years. Ella was a member of the Benedict United Methodist Church, the York Quilter's Guild and United Methodist Women and served on the Benedict School Board.
Survivors include her 2 sons; Kent (Toni) Allen, of Bradshaw and Craig (Lisa) Allen of Benedict; grandchildren, Rachelle, Bryce, Eric, Morgan and Grant Allen; brother Winton (Maxine) Wright of Benedict; sisters Doris Campbell of York and LaMoyne (Richard) Wismer of Montrose, CO; aunts Louise Merchant of Polk, Lucille Walkup of York, Edra Wright of Green Valley, Arizona; 1 niece and 8 nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and son Tim.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 17, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Memorials may be directed to the Benedict United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Saturday at Metz Mortuary in York.
