Elda Friesen
Elda Pankratz Friesen was born on February 12, 1914 to John H. and Katherina Friesen Pankratz on a farm near Henderson, Nebraska. She was baptized upon her confession of faith and received into membership at Bethesda Mennonite church and remained a faithful member until her death at the Henderson Care Center on May 13, 2012 at the age of 98.
She graduated from Henderson High School in 1933. On June 28, 1938 she was united in marriage to Harold F. Friesen. They spent 63 years together until his death in 2001. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska while Dad was in medical school. She later assisted him in his medical practice in Yutan, Nebraska. They moved to Henderson in 1954.
She devoted her life to her family. She liked to sew, crochet and embroider and her work was always done to perfection.
Surviving are her daughters, Marlene (Lelan) Thieszen, Mary (Kermit) Buller, both of Henderson, sons H. Allyn (Carolyn) Friesen of Peyton, CO, and Royce (Candice) Friesen of Andover, KS. Nine grandchildren: Connie (Bryan) Bechtel, Janet (Perry) Schnacker, David (Shelby) Thieszen, Christina (Erin) Berlie, Nathan (Heidi) Friesen, Michael (Kristy) Friesen, Steven Friesen, Christopher (Cami) Buller, Matthew Buller. There are sixteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Sadie Friesen, Amy Friesen and MayBelle Janzen.
Committal services will be held at 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Bethesda Cemetery, Henderson, NE. Memorial services will follow at 10:30 a.m., at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Visitation will be Tuesday,
9 a.m-9 p.m., at Metz Mortuary, Henderson. The family greet friends from 7-8:30 that evening. Memorials may be given to the Henderson Care Center.
