Dr. J. Richard Callahan
Dr. J. Richard Callahan, age 91 of York, NE died Monday, February 13, 2023 at York. He was born May 2, 1931 in York to Bert and Myrtle (Anderson) Callahan. On April 21, 1956, he was married to Winifred Nazara Kirk at Marion, VA. Richard was a Doctor of Chiropractic having practiced at Callahan Chiropractic Clinic in York for almost 60 years before retiring on his 84th birthday. Being an avid hunter and collector, he was also a proud York High School graduate and still supported the York Dukes whenever he could.
He is survived by his wife Winifred of York, son Jonathan (Connie) Callahan of York, daughters, Jennifer (Garlan) Schoenrock of Wayneville, MO, Laurel (Doug) Henrichsen of Hastings, MN, Karen Callahan of Hastings, NE and Charlene (Brian) Hess of Minneapolis, MN, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings Leslie, Warren, Eileen and Dale.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00am Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Arbor Drive Community Church in York with the Reverend Jon Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery following services. Memorials may be directed to the Arbor Drive Community Church or Living Water Rescue Mission. Visitation will be from 1-8:00 pm Friday with his family greeting friends from 6-8:00 pm that same evening at the mortuary.
