Dorothy 'Dot' Haack
Dorthy “Dot” Marie Haack, age 94, of York, NE died Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Lincoln, NE surrounded by her family.
She was born October 13, 1923 in York to Clinton LeRoy and Margaret Ann (Bagg) Ellis. Dot graduated from York High School in 1941 and then had one year of Business Correspondence classes. She was married to LeRoy Haack on November 21, 1943 in Belleville, KS, and was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Dot worked at May’s Hallmark – York Floral, was a Hostess at Bonanza, and worked for Bag-N-Save.
Dot was a Sunday school teacher, a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout Pack and loved life. She was a member of the FCE Lamplighters and the York County Extension Club. Dot enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed traveling, and organizing family celebrations.
She is survived by her sons; Randy Haack of Lincoln, Bill (Jody) Haack of Columbus, NE and Dennis Haack of York. Her grandchildren include; Lee (Erica) Haack, and Kris (Emily) Haack both of Lincoln, Ryan (Sarah) Haack of Kearney, Kiley Haack of Lincoln, and Chelsea Haack of Kearney. Great-Grandchildren include; Carter Haack of Lincoln, Katie Haack and Ryker Haack both of Kearney, and Dorthea Haack of Lincoln. Also surviving her is her brother Dick Ellis and her niece Sue (Allan) Zavodny both of York, nephew David (Gloria) Ellis and sister-in-law Bobbie Morris both of Lincoln, a host of friends and admirers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her son The Reverend Lon, infant brother and sister Donald and Onabelle, brother Robert Ellis, daughter-in-law Kathy (Scholz) Haack, sisters-in-laws Dee Ellis, Hilda Haack, Edna Kaufman, brother-in-law Adam Kaufman, nephews Jerry Ellis and Gene Ellis.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, March 23, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Ben Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, York. Visitation will be held from 1-8 pm Thursday, March 22, 2018, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 pm that same evening at the mortuary. Memorials are directed to the family for later designation.
