Dorothy Cain
Dorothy Ann Cain-Toombs, 80, was born in Groton SD, to C.A and Iva (Foster) Stephen and passed away on Friday September 28th at Stromsburg NE, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

​Dorothy spent most of her younger years in York NE. There, she married Robert Zieg and to this first union her first son, Jim was born. She and Jim then moved to Lincoln, where she pursued a career in cosmetology at Ben Simons. In July of 1962, she married Delmar Cain and to this second union, a son Tony and daughter Polly were born. They later moved to Gresham NE, where she opened a beauty salon and later the D&D bar. She was widowed and then later married Alfred Toombs. In her remaining years there in Gresham, she met and made many great friends.

Preceeding Dorothy, were her parents C.A and Iva Stephen; husbands Robert Zieg, Delmar Cain and Alfred Toombs. Brothers Bill Stephen and John Stephen of Brighton CO, Alan Stephen of Junction City KS. Sisters Lois Ritchie of Fairmont NE, Margaret Graff of Wahoo NE, and  Joan Rhoades of Crete NE.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Jim (Monica) Zieg of Chicago Illinois, Tony Cain of Gresham NE, Polly (John) Coon of Gresham NE; step children, Alan (Janis) Toombs of Plattmouth NE, Fred (Diane) Toombs of Lincoln, NE, Kathy (Bobby) Harrop of Panama NE, Rene Lint of PA, and Phyllis (Donny) Reinwald of Bennet NE; grandchildren, Elizabeth Lyons, Alexandria Coon and Jessie Coon; brothers, Homer Stephen of Lincoln, NE and Don (Faye) Stephen of Brighton, CO; sister, Helen of Nielsen of Yankton, SD; and a host of nieces, nephews, step grand children and countless friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Presbyterian Church in Gresham, NE. Inurnment will be in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
