Doris Lehr
Doris Marie Lehr age 97 of York, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017 in York. She was born Jan. 7, 1920 at Seward to George and Mary (Tinnapple) Lukert. On Sept. 29, 1940, Doris was united in marriage to Edwin Lehr at Seward.
Doris was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. She was also a cook at Emmanuel Faith Lutheran School for many years. She loved quilting, helping with the Orphan Grain Train, and enjoyed visiting her friends at the Hearthstone in York. She loved to ballroom dance and was active in several card clubs around town. She worked hard in her flower garden and loved to cook and entertain friends and family whenever she could. Most of all, Doris loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Robert of York; grandsons, Chad (Fiance’ Hollie) Lehr of Lincoln and Jon Powell of Stamford, Conn.; granddaughters, Angie (Scott) Soucie of Omaha, Hilary (Andrew) Rummel of Spring City, Pa., Elizabeth (Stuart) Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska and Stephanie (Blake) Ritter of Lincoln; great-granddaughters, Brittni and Ashlee Lehr and Genevieve Rummell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin and daughter, Nancy Powell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverends Mike Neidow and Ben Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 - 8 p.m., Wednesday Sept. 27, 2017 with her family greeting friends from 6 - 8 p.m., that evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to her family for later designation.
