Darlene V. Bankson
Darlene V. Bankson, age 77, of Stromsburg, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Stromsburg. She was born June 8, 1934 in Des Moine, Iowa, to Charles E. and Helen (Jawor) Peaker.
Darlene worked for nine years at Mosaic in York. She loved to crochet and made numerous afghans for her family. She also enjoyed baking, playing Bingo and time spent with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Michael Bankson of Grand Island; three daughters, Catherine (Dan) Danhauer of York, Deb (William) Cool of McCool Jct. and Julia (David) Schram of Osceola; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles T. Peaker and John E. Peaker of Omaha; nieces, nephews and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Marion, two grandchildren, Wade Cool and Angel Bankson and two sisters, Shirley Hall and Mary Jo Howe.
Services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Lee Seetin officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Thayer. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday at Metz Mortuary with the family greeting friends that evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
