Darleen Senff
Darleen Senff, age 90, of York, NE formerly of Hampton, NE passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in York. Darleen Dorothy Senff was born December 4, 1927 to Carl and Clara (Wellman) Apetz on a farm southeast of York. She attended St. John Lutheran School, south of Waco. She moved with her parents to York in March of 1938. She then went to York Public Schools.
She married Marvin Senff on October 19, 1947 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. They had three sons: Dennis, Dean and Michael. She and her husband farmed east of Hampton. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid and did a lot of sewing for the Orphan Grain Train and World Relief. She sewed quilt tops and bottoms and helped put them together. She learned embroidery as a young child and did it as long as she could. She loved to embroider tea towels. She made a set for her family and grandchildren. She made a lot of sets and gave them as gifts. She made a quilt for each of her sons and grandchildren. She and her husband loved to go to their children’s school programs and sports events and later to their grandchildren’s.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons: Dennis (Joyce) Senff, Dean (Karla) Senff, and Michael Senff all of Hampton; 7 grandchildren: Brian (Jessica) Senff, Michelle Senff, Mark (Rachel) Senff, Nikkol Senff, Kaleb Senff, Tiffany Senff, and Brent Senff. Also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Wanda Apetz and Lila (Maynard) Miller. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, special in-laws Henry and Emma Senff, brothers and sister-in-laws: Delbert and Leona Apetz, Alvin and Luella Apetz, Lee Apetz, sister Mildred Threatt, brother-in-law Ivan Senff, and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Hampton, with the Reverends David Feddern and Loren Cooper officiating. Burial to follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, with the family greeting friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM that evening at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
