Clara Ervin
Clara Ervin, age 99 of York, NE, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at York. She was born July 2, 1918 to Elvenia (Herrick) and Emil Hablitzel in Edison, NE. Clara was united in marriage to Clarence Collingham in Lawrence, KS on April 25, 1934. Later, Clara was married to Glen D. Ervin in Camdenton, MO on December 19, 1985. Clara had previously operated a café in Waco, NE in her younger days and waitressed many other places in York as well. She enjoyed music and dancing and reading mystery books. She was a passionate Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
She is survived by sons Gerald (Mardee) Collingham of Tarkio, MO and Victor (Irene) Collingham of Midlothian, TX; daughters Bessie (Dean) Snyder of Concord, California and Sherry Taylor of York, NE; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 15 great great-grandchildren; and 3 great great great – grandchildren. Daughter-in-law Linda Collingham of Camdenton, MO. She is also survived by former daughters-in-law Cynthia Collingham of Swansea, IL and Susan Lewis of Boise, ID.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sons Donald and Rollan, sisters Beulah and Grace, grandsons Justin, Patrick, and Stanley, son-in-law Dale, and a great great-grandson Jared.
Visitation with Clara’s family was held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Metz Mortuary. Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with her husband Glen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
