Charles Spencer

 Charles ‘Chuck’ Robert Spencer of York, NE died on June 21st, 2022. Chuck was born January 25, 1956 to Bob and Agnes (Christensen) Spencer in Central City, NE. He grew up attending District 8 and then Central City Public School where he graduated in 1975. The day after graduation, he moved to Canada to work as a stable hand and to help exercise racehorses. Chuck loved riding and caring for horses and spent his summers competing at horse shows entering single and team events with his brother, Roger and other friends. Chuck brought home many trophies and ribbons. 
 
Chuck was united in marriage to Brenda Larkin on July 3rd, 1982 in York. They made their home in Benedict for many years. They moved to York in 2019. He worked various jobs in York, the last being for Walmart before having to retire due to health reasons.  Chuck loved his wife, family, and time spent with his horses. 
 
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda of York,  his sisters, Dee Mason of Flushing Michigan, Janet (Jack) Schneider of Grand Island; brother Roger (Teri) Spencer of Polk; mother-in-law, Lenora Larkin of Benedict; brothers-in-law, Andy (Jodi) Larkin of Benedict, Ed (Jacque) Larkin of York; sisters-in-law, Therese (Lonney) Schlegelmilch of Benedict, Jane (Tracy) Dodson of Columbus; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
 
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, father-in-law, Jim Larkin, his sisters, Rita Critel, Louise Wagner Pena, brothers-in-law, Bill Totten, Boyd Critel, Bill Wagner, Ned Mason, nephew, Cody Gibson and great nephew Keegan Murray. 
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 2, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, with the Reverend Father John Sullivan officiating. Inurnment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery northwest of Benedict. Cremation. No viewing or visitation. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials will be directed to the York General Hospital Foundation - Dialysis Center and for the upkeep of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
